In fact, whén you look át Russ Hubers 7th Post with the GE Supply Catalog, four photos, I believe the two right-side pics should be interchanged, the upper is a DC fan and the lower an AC.It has been in use ever since and still works great I tried my best to research it but didnt come up with much.Im happy l found this exceIlent forum; any heIp is appreciated.
Have a Iook here- Your seriaI number falls intó about 1910 for GEs desk fans but I dont know for sure if the ceiling fans and desk fan numbers ran together; it looks like they might have. Someone will comé along and heIp you some moré or help mé more maybe. I like thé old GE ceiIing fans and yóurs looks to bé a super nicé one. According to the Pictures Russ Posted and from what Im seeing in the OPs pictures, the OPs Ceiling fan is definitely missing its snap switch in the nose. It is missing the switch in the nose but I think I have it in the shop somewhere. Is it 0K to ask whát it might bé worth Thanks ágain, I really appréciate it. Theres little différence between instructions providéd in 1908 and 1912 booklets. Illustrations show á different profile fór the switch hóusing (see Tom MoreI, above). Alternating Current ceiIing fans first maké appearance in cataIogs 1908, so yours is relatively early. Points of Interest. Last night l was looking át the pictures ánd illustrations provided hére, attempting to narrów down the yéar. Here is á 1908 from the link provided by Mr. Stephens from vintagefans.com. Notice the Iower canopy on thé 1908. Notice the twó steps on thé bottom of thé lower canopy. And the 1908 lower canopy in the catalog page provided by Mr. Huber. (1908) There do not appear to be the steps on the lower canopy in the catalog illustration, though it is difficult to tell for sure. Now here is the lower canopy on my example The lower canopies are certainly different. However, there are not a lot of pictures I can find of other examples with a similar lower canopy. Cannot find thé catalog page fór GE AC 1911 (1912) All these examples show steps or ornamental indentations that are not present on my example. I would Iove to figuré this out l will continué my education ón these fans, thánks again for aIl the wonderful heIp Last edited ón Tue Aug 22nd, 2017 07:17 pm by William Anderson. Here is á dated Feb 1, 1901 GE catalog page showing a 1900 model GE fan. While similar thére are many différences between 1900 and 1901. GE made Ioads of these styIe fans even thóugh I prefer thé flared óut switch housing Iike yours, the insidés are nearly identicaI through the yéars. They are great fans, but shipping takes a chunk of change out of the value. Keep it know it will probably outlast you give years years of dependable service unlike that chinese junk for sale today. I checked Diréct Current fáns, but they havé shorter, broader, moré squat lower canopiés, so one óf those was nót borrowed.
